Spicy Prawn Salad

Fresh and light with a little spice from a dressing of Korean Gochujang chilli paste.

  • 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 500 grams prawns
  • 3 garlic cloves - chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey
  • cos lettuce - or lettuce of choice
  • 1 carrot - peeled and shredded or grated
  • 150 grams tomatoes
  • 1 small cucumber - peeled and thinly sliced


  • 1/2 cup plain Greek style yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon Gochujang paste (Korean Chilli Paste)
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Fresh basil leaves


  1. *The following instructions are based on cooking the prawns in 3 batches
  2. Put the salad ingredients onto serving plates
  3. Add the coconut oil to a heated pan and then the garlic and honey
  4. Add the prawns and cook for a few minutes, turn and finish cooking then remove from the heat. Repeat until all prawns are cooked
  5. Add to the salad and serve with a drizzle of the dressing

Recipe Notes

My kids are not huge fans of lettuce so I served theirs with rice stick noodles instead of lettuce and no dressing.
Cook time is based on 3 x 3 min batches of the prawns
