  • 2 cm fresh ginger grated
  • 1 cm fresh turmeric grated
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemongrass finely chopped
  • 500 grams chicken mince
  • 1 apple peeled and grated
  • 100 grams sweet potato grated
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 4 grinds black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown rice flour

  1. Add the ingredients to a mixing bowl and stir to combine well

  2. Create equal sized patties, squeezing the mixture firmly into shape

  3. Set aside in the fridge for 30 minute

  4. Heat a pan to medium heat and add a drizzle of cooking oil of choice

  5. Add the burgers to the warmed pan and cook on each side until golden, turn once until cooked through

Recipe Notes

These burgers are intentionally made without egg due to intolerance in our home. If the burgers are gently turned in the pan they will remain intact. If you wish to add 1 egg to bind the meat, add an additional tablespoon of flour.

Recipe variations

Meat variations: Use half pork and half chicken mince for a richer flavour

Vegetable variations: replace the apple and sweet potato with zucchini and carrot

Serving Suggestions

Serve in rolls with salads

If switching out the sweet potato to carrot, serve with sweet potato or potato wedges and vegetables
