Chocolate Coated Oranges

A healthy Easter recipe idea made from dehydrated orange dipped in Cointreau flavored dark chocolate.

  • 8 oranges Australian
  • 125 grams dark cooking chocolate good quality
  • 1 teaspoon Cointreau liquor optional


  1. Cut off the skins of the oranges, removing as much pith (the white layer under the skin) as possible.
  2. Slice the peeled oranges into even sized slices and place on the dehydrator trays for 16- 18 hours at 125 degrees
  3. Remove from the dehydrator and cool
  4. Set a saucepan of water to a low simmer. * Use a bowl that sits on top of it without touching the water
  5. Add the chocolate to the bowl and melt over a low simmer stirring constantly
  6. Add the Cointreau and quickly dip each piece of orange into the melted chocolate to coat
  7. Place each dipped piece of orange onto a tray lined with baking paper
  8. Repeat until all slices of dehydrated orange have been dipped in the chocolate
  9. Place in the fridge to set
  10. Serve

These do not store well. They will re-hydrate if stored in the fridge so please eat and enjoy them in one sitting.
