Fat Phase

  • 3 grams coconut oil
  • 10 grams cocoa butter
  • 4 grams beeswax
  • 10 grams almond oil
  • 3 grams avocado oil
  • 8 grams emulsifying wax

Water Phase

  • 200 ml water
  • 1 whole vanilla beans

  • 5 drops Lime essential oil
  • 2 drops Sandalwood essential oil

  1. Set the water to boil in a small saucepan with the vanilla bean
  2. Once it boils remove from the heat and allow the vanilla to steep (do not remove it yet) Allow the liquid to cool prior to using 70 grams
  3. Measure out the ingredients from the Fat Phase into a bowl (that can be placed over a saucepan of water without the ingredient bowl base touching the water). Set the water in the saucepan to simmer
  4. Allow the fat phase ingredients to melt over a low heat. *They should not be heated above 70 degrees celcius
  5. Weigh out 70 grams of the vanilla infused water (approx 100ml). It is easiest to add it to a measuring jug
  6. Pour the fat phase ingredients into a large Pyrex jug (or similar) Use a stick blender to blend the ingredients, adding the cooled 70 grams of water in a slow steady stream. You do not need to use all of the water or the mixture will be too thin
  7. Continue to blend until the mixture thickens to the consistency of whipped cream. Stop mixing.
  8. Stir in the essential oils
  9. Pot into steralised jars (see notes)
  10. Use within a few weeks

Recipe Notes

I use jars with a plastic lid that can not be oven steralised. To steralise in boiling water add the jars to a sauce pan of cold water, bring it to a boil and allow to boil for a few minutes. remove with tongs and place upside down to drain on a clean towel.
Use clean equipment at all times - Use boiling water to rinse any spoons and the blender prior to using
All measurements are in GRAMS not in mls (including all liquids).
