My little baby turned 1 year old yesterday. His first year has gone by so fast. I wish I could stop time and enjoy this stage of his development and of our family dynamics. It has been a great year. He is at such a gorgeous stage I want to hold onto it for a little longer….wishful mummy dreams.
Prior to commencing this blog just over one month ago, I could have been described as highly organised. I have been told that I can be intimidating to others who are not that way inclined (go figure!) Now, in less than a month I am no longer organised more than a day out from an event. This pains me a little.
I have not yet found a comfortable balance in spending quality time with my boys, looking after the house, my writing and attempting to learn all I can about blogging at a hasty pace. What this means is that – other than sending the invites I had not planned for Cuddles’ party until a few days prior.
I sought help from my lovely childhood friend and blogger Nicole from Planning with Kids. Nicole has some fabulous resources for organizing life with children. She has five beautiful children. I purchased Nicole’s Parties with Kids e-book to sort me out.
It contains useful tools:
With such a comprehensive plan I used Nicole’s wisdom & tools to get me ready for Cuddle’s first birthday party. You can find her e-book and more information here.
I am going to use my own recipes on the day as there are a few things I would like to make.
On our menu for the day is:
Potato wedges
Green salad
Chocolate Cup Cakes – this is a recipe we love that I have collected from Delicious Magazine
Fruit Platter
The day was really lovely. Cuddles was overwhelmed by the attention, presents and excitement of having his family and close friends all together at one time.
Happy Birthday to my precious baby boy. X
