These burgers are frequently on our family dinner menu. They are easy to make and can have different vegetables added, depending on what you have available.
A little while ago when a friend was injured a meal roster was created for her family by some of the school community. I made these burgers and they were a huge hit with her kids and have since been on her menu too.
I hope you give them a try and love them also. I have listed the common recipe variations I use, depending on what I have available to use.
Add the ingredients to a mixing bowl and stir to combine well
Create equal sized patties, squeezing the mixture firmly into shape
Set aside in the fridge for 30 minute
Heat a pan to medium heat and add a drizzle of cooking oil of choice
Add the burgers to the warmed pan and cook on each side until golden, turn once until cooked through
These burgers are intentionally made without egg due to intolerance in our home. If the burgers are gently turned in the pan they will remain intact. If you wish to add 1 egg to bind the meat, add an additional tablespoon of flour.
Recipe variations
Meat variations: Use half pork and half chicken mince for a richer flavour
Vegetable variations: replace the apple and sweet potato with zucchini and carrot
Serving Suggestions
Serve in rolls with salads
If switching out the sweet potato to carrot, serve with sweet potato or potato wedges and vegetables
