Raw Cocao Muesli Balls

Raw Cocao Muesli Balls

At this time of year the lunch box packing routine can start to become tiresome as the glimmer of light that is Christmas break brightens and the days tick tick tick by. My eldest son is in Grade 1 this year, he is still a little boy and he is TIRED at this point in the last term of school. I am trying to “will him on” to make it through to the break. As a result I have been exploring a range of healthy raw food snacks to keep him enthused about heading off to school each morning when he is more than ready to stay in his pajamas and play car games, transformers or spy games with his little brother.

I am not a great baker, I will avoid baking it if I can. These Raw Cocao Muesli Balls are a lunch box snack that my son loves and that makes me a happy mum. He is excited to head off to school in the morning with a much anticipated snack in his lunch box. Pureharvest Organic Muesli is nut free, egg free and ready in 10 minutes. These raw muesli balls are made from ingredients that are generally on hand in my pantry this recipe can be made right in the middle of the morning rush if required! I have happily eaten one or two for breakfast as we rush out the door…

Raw Cocao Muesli Balls are nut free, dairy free, refined sugar free and ready in 10 minutes. Made from ingredients that are generally on hand in the pantry, this recipe can be made right in the middle of the morning rush if required!
Recipe type: Snacks
Serves: 16
  1. Add all of the ingredients , except those to coat, to a food processor to mix until the ingredients come together into a ball.
  2. On a plate combine the cocao powder and coconut sugar
  3. Take a small scoop of the mixture, roll it into a ball and then roll in the power and sugar to coat
  4. Refrigerate and eat within a week
You will require a food processor with a motor of at least 850 watts to process the mixture easily, quickly and without damage to the motor.
Cocao Date Muesli BallsMy six year old and his dirty paint stained little fingers decided that more raw cocao is better than less for his school lunch box snack !  Be warned, the raw cocao has a strong flavor, it is dry and quite bitter so generally the kids will prefer just a small amount of raw cocao – but in the case of my six year old it is better if he discovers this himself!!

Are you running out of lunch box snack ideas at this time of year?
