Look In My Pantry

I prefer to use home grown, or additive free

Christmas has come and gone, the last of our visitors left this week and we are attempting to get back into a normal routine.  The Melbourne weather extremes of hot then cold have created some havoc in my garden, Christmas, entertaining visitors and the birthday of our boys has created havoc to our budget.

I am working my way through my pantry. Some items I always have on hand. I am fussy with these and have spend time finding products with no additives that I always use. I never substitute these items.

Pantry Drawers

Additive Free Pantry Staples

I would love to know what is in your pantry ?

Found you via My Little Drummer Boys.
My pantry has my staples too, I tend to bea creature of habbit and buy the same things. I’m not as fussy on the additives, as is so hard to get around these days. I was surprised though when shopping with a friend who’s family does additive-free when she pointed out how the cheapest block cheese (homebrand) was the one they bought cause had the least additives! Cheapest was the ‘best’!

Hi Hayley, it took me a while to find brand I am happy with but now I know they are surprisingly accessible

My pantry is a woeful little cupboard that is far too small. But it’s filled with lots of good stuff because we are quitting sugar! We have lots of beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, canned tuna, rice crackers, etc etc. I think CrashHubby will have to build a bigger pantry though because everything is so crammed in I can’t find anything!

Yes, keep him busy, keep adding to the To Do List 🙂

My pantry is tall and thin and it is difficult to find anything in there. but it contain staples and we tend to buy the same things over again too. Yours looks quite organised. That job is on my list of things to do.

i am jealous of your organised pantry! I am using this for my weekend clean up inspiration!

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:44 am

Excellent work Lyndal, it is amazing how good a de-clutter feels

PLEASE come and organise my pantry like that…. we open it at the moment and close it straight away because it’s too disorganised to even see what is in there!!! I just got groceries delivered so somehow, someway, I’m going to clean it out TODAY to fit the new ones in!!!

Your pantry is A LOT more organised than my pantry! Don’t you love a little sneak-peek into the way we each do things? Thanks for sharing. x

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:36 am

Hi Maxabella, yes there is something about checking out someone else’s set up isn’t there? I did just give it a bit of a tidy for the picture but it is usually pretty organised as I am in and out of there so many times a day

  • Amy @ MahliMoo January 18, 2012, 3:49 pm

I love the look of your pantry, it looks really organised.

My has a lot of staples in it, but it is so not organised. It has been on my to do like for ages.

  • Trish January 18, 2012, 4:15 pm

I stay away from additives too Kyrstie. I am working through my pantry too .

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:35 am

Nice to hear Trish. I found it really difficult to arrive at the brands I use. It took me ages to read through all the brand labels..

  • Bee January 18, 2012, 4:53 pm

You’re pantry looks great! I cleaned mine out the other day and it looked very similar, but I’m sad to say that it hasn’t really stayed that way 🙁

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:34 am

Hi Bee, it is a challenge to keep it that way, especially when my nearly 4 year old loves to drag a chair over to sift through everything looking for cookies 🙂

  • Java Jane January 18, 2012, 8:15 pm

I am in a big need of a pantry declutter.. I’m sure there are things at the back that have been there for some time!!! My issue is i need to keep it like that!!!
Your pantry looks very tidy!!! Love it!!

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:33 am

Hi Jane, it feels good to give it a big clean out. Thanks for visiting.

  • Seana Smith January 18, 2012, 8:15 pm

    Hello there Krystie,

I’ve got some staples too, have a great drawer with lots of Tupperware with all my nuts, lentils, dried fruits etc etc I love that drawer. I have a tins drawer too, and a pasta/rice drawer. fantastic!

Thanks for your comment on my new blog, I managed to crash it straight after you posted and I feel a real idiot! But hope to get it back up soon.

    • Kyrstie January 19, 2012, 7:32 am

Oh no, I hope it is fixed soon. I have done that a couple of times too!! It is tricky starting off, in-fact it is still tricky for me (anything technical!) Thanks for visiting. Your drawer sounds very organised.

  • Lauren January 19, 2012, 4:25 pm

    LOVE your pantry!

SO clean and organized..mine? total MAYHEM…does not help that it has to store all our crockery too lol because all of my other cupboards are too small to fit the standard sized dinner plates (makes sense..right?! and this is only a year old home!).

Really have to tackle all the flour and ‘bit’s lurking at the back.. thanks for the inspiration 🙂
