Chickens (new) Home To Roost

Backyard Chickens

Welcome home Henny & Penny! Meet the newest additions to our backyard.  We collected the girls last week and they are settling in nicely – despite all of the petting that “Punky” is attempting.  They have had a couple of name changes over the week and I do have a sneaky suspicion that one if the girls is not a girl…..I will keep you posted.

Thanks Jane. We have been wanting some chooks for ages so is exciting to get them. Can’t wait for fresh eggs!

I love your chickens and their coop. Did you construct it yourselves ?
    We are getting chickens soon.
    Happy WW.

Hi Trish, Mr Fresh got the coop on ebay for a bargain. It is cute. We will let them free range (although I am very nervous about My Patches) once they have settled in. thanks for the opportunity to join in 🙂 K

Love the hen house! And that last photo is just adorable!

I am hoping that Henny and Penny do not get too much love from Punky or there may be no eggs! “Gentle” doesn’t seem to compute with the nearly 4 year old brain…

That’s one snazzy hen house! I would love to have chickens..all those fresh free range eggs would take my cakes to a whole new level!

Thanks for visiting Di. Yes, I am nervously awaiting the production to start 🙂

love having chooks! nothing like your own eggs!!

  • Laney @ Crash Test Mummy January 13, 2012, 6:59 pm

We’re hoping to have our own chickens too. I love that chicken coop! Is it a one off, or does someone sell them on ebay like a shop?

    • Kyrstie January 14, 2012, 3:12 pm

Hi Laney, thank you for visiting. The people we got the coop from had a little farm. They do not sell multiples. Mr Fresh said he just saw one similar in Bunnings. It was quite a bit more expensive than what we managed to pick this one up for though..

Oh how I long for the day when we have some space for some chooks in the yard – LOVE the names too 🙂

    • Kyrstie January 14, 2012, 3:11 pm

Thanks Erin, we have wanted chooks for a long time also. It is nice to finally be set up for them.

    Lovely new chook chooks!

Our chooks get loved to death and the argument over names never ends… currently our rooster has three names because we can’t seem to agree with each other on just one!

    Enjoy your new girls!

Funny Kate, ours may need another name change if the hen turns out to be a rooster 🙂 Thanks for visiting.
